Empowering Women, Building Futures: The Heartbeat of Atelier Tisaksuk

Atelier Tisaksuk stands at the core of Tisaksuk’s mission. While Tisaksuk designs and brings customers pieces that connect them to Haiti Cherie, Atelier Tisaksuk represents a deeper purpose, providing a space where women and girls are equipped with practical skills, empowered with knowledge about their rights and responsibilities, and supported in building better lives within Haiti.

The mission of Atelier Tisaksuk goes beyond artisan training; it focuses on fostering dignity and self-reliance among some of the most vulnerable in Haitian society. By concentrating efforts on youth and women, especially those facing significant challenges, Atelier Tisaksuk is helping these individuals develop not only practical skills but also the confidence and resilience needed to secure their futures. Civic education is a central component, as the organization believes that understanding one’s rights and responsibilities is essential for creating lasting change.

A recent collaboration with Nèges Mawon represents a significant step forward in this mission. Maison Claire Heureuse, a safe house provides refuge and support for women and girls who have endured abuse, in a region under gang control. This partnership has made possible a sewing class at Maison Claire Heureuse—a 12-week program for 25 women. These participants have shown tremendous dedication, engaging fully with the coursework and assignments, and demonstrating a clear commitment to their personal and professional growth.

The progress of these women, both in skill and self-confidence, underscores the broader purpose of this work. Atelier Tisaksuk’s vision is not solely about teaching a trade; it is about building pathways to opportunity, nurturing resilience, and creating a future where every woman in Haiti has the chance to thrive.
