About Us

Established in 2016, Atelier Tisaksuk is dedicated to promoting Haitian artisanship and empowering individuals to thrive in the artisanal sector. Our organization is committed to creating economic opportunities and fostering community development for artisans, youth, and women across Haiti.

Our Mission

At Atelier Tisaksuk, our mission is to improve the livelihoods of Haitian communities by providing economic opportunities, training, and civic education for artisans, youth aged 15 and up, and women who are abused, displaced or imprisoned. By equipping individuals with the skills they need to succeed and fostering a sense of civic responsibility, we aim to build a brighter future for Haiti.

Why:

Haiti, often regarded as the poorest country in the Western Hemisphere, faces profound economic and governance challenges. Many Haitians lack economic opportunities and the knowledge to advocate for their rights, leading to poor governance and widespread poverty. The Haitian dream for many is to leave the country, but we believe it can be restored through economic and civic development. Our goal is to equip Haitians with the skills to earn a respectable living and understand their civic rights and responsibilities, fostering a stronger, more self-sufficient nation. By empowering individuals economically and educating them about their rights, we strive to create a Haiti where staying is a viable and prosperous option. The artisanal sector, rich in potential yet plagued by poverty, exemplifies the saying “Haiti is too rich to be poor.” Proper training can transform artisans’ skills, enabling them to produce high-quality goods and secure stable employment, thereby contributing to their communities.

Our Objectives

  • To contribute to the development of Haiti’s artisan sector through capacity development and civic engagement training.
  • To improve the livelihoods of artisans and entrepreneurs by providing economic opportunities.
  • To foster civic responsibility and community engagement among Haitian youth, women, and individuals from marginalized backgrounds.
