About us

Creating Lasting Change Through Craft, Community, and Courage

Established in 2016, Atelier Tisaksuk is a Haiti-based social enterprise dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities through artisanal skills training and civic education. Founded on the belief that economic opportunity and self-sufficiency are fundamental rights, we equip women, youth, and marginalized individuals with the tools they need to transform their lives and their communities.

Our mission is to break the cycle of poverty by providing participants with job-skills training in artisanal crafts, fostering entrepreneurship, and helping them advocate for their own rights and dignity. We believe in the power of creativity, craftsmanship, and community to create pathways toward a more resilient and equitable Haiti.

At the heart of our work is a commitment to gender equality, social justice, and economic empowerment. We specifically focus on women and youth, recognizing their potential as key drivers of change. Through our programs, we not only provide participants with valuable vocational skills but also promote civic engagement and advocacy, empowering them to contribute meaningfully to the socio-economic development of their communities.

Our Mission

Atelier Tisaksuk is dedicated to empowering vulnerable communities across Haiti by providing artisanal skills training and civic education. Our mission is to create sustainable economic opportunities for women and youth, particularly those affected by violence and marginalization, while fostering social engagement and community resilience. Through collaboration with local and international partners, we aim to uplift individuals, helping them to earn a dignified living and advocate for their rights, contributing to a stronger, more resilient Haiti.

Our Vision

Atelier Tisaksuk envisions a Haiti where every individual, regardless of their circumstances, has access to economic opportunities, dignity, and the ability to shape their future. We believe in a Haiti where women, youth, and marginalized communities are empowered to contribute meaningfully to society and where local craftsmanship and entrepreneurship are celebrated as drivers of sustainable development.

Our vision is one of a resilient, self-reliant Haiti—where empowered individuals and communities break the cycle of poverty and build a future grounded in creativity, collaboration, and civic responsibility.

Our Objectives

Provide artisanal skills training and civic education to women and youth in marginalized communities, helping them build sustainable livelihoods and advocate for their rights.

Create opportunities for participants to generate income through entrepreneurship and dignified work, particularly in the artisan sector, reducing dependency on external aid.

Strengthen local communities by fostering a culture of self-sufficiency, civic engagement, and advocacy, enabling them to respond to challenges such as violence and poverty.

Address gender-based violence and economic inequities by equipping women with the skills and resources to improve their socio-economic standing and protect their rights.

Build partnerships with local organizations, international partners, and community leaders to extend the reach of our programs, ensuring a collective and sustainable impact across Haiti.

Our Approach

We provide hands-on vocational training that allows participants to develop artisanal crafts and entrepreneurship skills, creating pathways to sustainable income and self-sufficiency.

Through civic education, we teach participants about their rights and responsibilities, enabling them to become active members of their communities and advocates for positive change.

Our programs are designed and implemented in partnership with local communities, organizations, and leaders. We listen to the needs and challenges of each community to ensure that our interventions are tailored, culturally relevant, and sustainable.

Recognizing that women and youth are key drivers of change, we prioritize these groups in our programs. By equipping them with the skills to thrive, we strengthen families, communities, and Haiti as a whole.

By creating and promoting made-in-Haiti products, we connect local artisans with broader markets, driving economic growth and supporting Haiti’s cultural heritage.
